Mini Kit

This is actually a "kit".  It says it includes a CD, 72-inch sheer red veil, body jewels, full set of finger cymbals, and a 64-page book.  The "mini kit" includes mini 32-page book, body jewels, and a full set of finger cymbals.  The regular kit is a little misleading in my opinion.  It says it contains a 72-inch sheer red veil but what it neglects to tell you is that it's 72-inches by about 4-inches.  I don't know what exactly they expect you to do with this stip of fabric other than possibly tie it around your hips or hair since it's really rather useless for learning veil work.  Everything else is what I expected.  The body jewels are cute, the finger cymbals are the cheapy ones but the elastic is already sewn for you... which may suck if your fingers are too large or small for what they have given you, the CD has decent music although they should have included a playlist since you will have no idea whats on the CD otherwise.  The content of the mini book was what I expected for such a small book but the larger book that comes in the regular kit was not as expanded as I thought it would be in comparison.  Both contain some illustrations of the movements they describe but I don't feel the illustrations really showed what was being said very well.  They both "teach" finger cybals but only two patterns.  The section on history is OK but, focuses only on one theory without even slight mention of other theories.  Both books engourage warm-up's and have lists of various resources for learning more about belly dance and buying belly dancing products.  The sections on looking the part are not as good as I think they should be.  They provide only minimal information about costuming/make-up.  Over all both products are fairly cheap at $15.00 for the large kit and $7.00 for the mini kit... you get what you pay for.  I wasn't completely dissapointed with them but I doubt I would reccomend them to anyone unless they were looking to collect everything they could about belly dance.
