Tabla Rythyms
These are 16 commonly heard tabla rythyms.  Some of the names used here are names commonly used in the USA however, many countries use different names for these same rythyms.  I have also color coded the rythyms to help you differentiate between the different sounds more easily and quickly..
Doum: is played by slapping the center of the drum with your dominant hand and pulling your hand back quickly (like playing hot potato).
Tek: is played by slapping the rim of your drum with your dominant hand.
Ka: is played by slapping the rim of your drum with your non-dominant hand.
Teka: is played by playing tek and ka right next to each other without pause (first your dominant hand then your non-dominant hand)

* Beladi is properly called Masmoodi Saghir but I have given both in this page. Beladi is the common name for these rythyms in the US.  On this page Beladi is the more filled version of Masmoodi Saghir with a bridge on the end.  The rythym can be played without the bridge by not playing the last teka. Both rythyms are of the same family, Masmoodi Saghir.
